Chuckanut Bay Distillery Wheat Vodka

A remarkably smooth grain vodka made in our classic “slow-crafted” style – crisp, clean, and easy to drink.

The TTB states that vodka should be “without distinctive character, aroma, taste, or color.” Given that blueprint, how is a distillery supposed to make a vodka stand out from the crowd? Our answer? Pay attention to every detail. Our grain vodka begins life as white winter wheat grown right up the road here in Whatcom County (try saying that ten times quickly!). We grind the wheat ourselves here on site, then mash and ferment it. We then run it through the still with both columns engaged several times to achieve maximum purity, and filter and proof down as the final stage. The result is a clean, highly drinkable vodka that’s up for whatever you are – martinis, cocktails – you name it.

CBD’s grain vodka won a silver medal and “highly recommended” classification at the 2015 judging of vodkas from around the world at the prestigious Beverage Tasting Institute. Tasting notes were as follows: “Clear color. Rich, curious, savory aromas of soy rice cake, sautéed mushrooms, and chestnut brittle with a silky, bright, dry-yet-fruity light-to-medium body and a tingling, appealing, medium-length whipped cream, white maple toffee, and cherry pit finish. This has an interesting combination of savory and sweet notes.”

Submitted by @hayles360: The Triple Threat Shakerato @chuckanutbaydistillery for the #CBDspringcocktail challenge. Spring to me means iced coffee, or sitting on the patio at Aslan sipping a #dawnpatrol. The triple threat combines the triple threats of @bellinghamcoffeeroasters @aslanbrewing @chuckanutbaydistillery. Using the Dawn patrol I created a beer simple syrup. Shake over ice with two shots of chilled Ethiopian Harrar, and a shot of Chuckanut’s wheat vodka. Strain into a rocks glass, lemon peel.
